SINGING AUDITION
ACTING AUDITION
You only need to prepare for this if you would like a singing role (i.e. lead, featured or chorus)
-
Please prepare 1 minute of a song that showcases your singing talent to the very best of your ability. Choose a Disney or Broadway musical number rather than a pop song. Preparing a song from “The Little Mermaid” for the part you want is advisable (see link below).
-
If you want a lead role, you must prepare to sing solo.
-
If you want a chorus role, you may sing with one other person (maximum of two people auditioning together).
-
You do not need a backing track.
-
You may use lyrics, but it is advisable to sing without words in front of you.
If you would like a lead or featured role, then you must be prepared to perform a short monologue and possibly scene
-
There will be printed material at the audition.
-
You may be asked to stay back and read scenes or for a particular role.
DANCING AUDITION
You only need to prepare a short (1-2 minute) dance if you intend to be an "elite dancer".
For the elite dancer:
-
Please prepare a 1-2 minute dance solo or duo (no more than two people) in your preferred style of dance.
-
Be aware that the prominent dance styles in the production are: contemporary, Latin, ballroom. But if you are proficient in another style (i.e. hip hop, or ballet) please do not hesitate to prepare that style of dance for the audition.
-
Bring your own music - a speaker with a bluetooth and an aux cord will be available.
